 About Kendal Outreach
Kendal Outreach is an
affiliate of The Kendal Corporation, a nationally recognized leader
in serving older people for over thirty years. Since 1989, Kendal
Outreach has been sharing Kendal's approach to quality care with
consumers, advocates, providers, government agencies and related
organizations. This approach is rooted in Quaker tradition and
is based on the philosophy that retirement and growing older can
bring new opportunities for growth and development, regardless
of physical or cognitive limitations that may develop.
The goal of Kendal Outreach is to improve
the practice of geriatrics and gerontology by:
- Raising public awareness of priority action issues for the
elderly;
- Forming coalitions of researchers, practitioners, educators,
and consumers, out of the belief that more can be accomplished
through interdisciplinary collaboration;
- Influencing the development and implementation of public policy
that impacts quality of care in long term care settings;
- Empowering the elderly and their caregivers to participate
in issues related to them.
KENDAL OUTREACH serves the long term care industry by:
- providing education and training to health care professionals,
providers, and consumers;
- providing access to materials,
equipment, and resources that enhance the lives of people with
impairments;
- demonstrating care methods proven to enhance
outcomes for older people;
- partnering with like-minded individuals
and institutions interested quality care techniques;
- participating in growth opportunities
with the potential of maintaining Kendal’s leadership role in the fi eld of aging, and;
- fostering the
spirit of charitability by broadening Kendal’s mission beyond Kendal’s walls.
